YouTube Transcript Generator

Paste a YouTube or YouTube Shorts link to turn the video into text with timestamps. VidScripta reads the captions when a video has them, and transcribes the audio with AI when it doesn't.

How to get a YouTube transcript

  1. Copy the link. Use the Share button on the YouTube and choose Copy link.
  2. Paste it above. Optionally set a start and end time to transcribe just one section.
  3. Copy your transcript. Take it with timestamps, or switch to plain text for just the words.

What people use it for

Quote a video accurately

Pull exact wording, with the timestamp, for articles, research and citations.

Study faster

Skim a lecture or tutorial as text instead of scrubbing through the video.

Repurpose content

Turn a video into notes, a blog draft, or social captions.

Works with watch links, youtu.be short links, Shorts and live-stream replays. Use the start and end time fields to transcribe a single section of a long video.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the transcript of a YouTube video?

Copy the video's link from the address bar or the Share button, paste it into VidScripta and press Transcribe. The transcript appears with timestamps, ready to copy.

Does it work if the YouTube video has no captions?

Yes. When a video has no captions, VidScripta transcribes the audio with AI speech recognition instead.

Can I get a transcript of a YouTube Short?

Yes. Paste the Shorts link as it is — /shorts/ links are supported.

Can I transcribe just part of a long YouTube video?

Yes. Enter a start and end time and only that section is transcribed.

Is there a length limit?

Each plan has a maximum duration per transcription, up to 15 minutes on Studio. Use a time range to transcribe the part of a longer video you need.
